There will be a Resurrection - ACTS 24:15

Prophetic Application of the Resurrection Yet to Come

The resurrection so beautifully described in scripture is either to heaven - by invitation to 144,000 - REVELATION 14:1-5, or if to a future paradise earth then the number of mankind to be resurrected is unlimited - PSALM 37:11.

There are two types of resurrection illustrated by scripture - the resurrections performed by prophets, disciples, the Messiah and Yahweh God Almighty.

The resurrections performed by prophets such as Elijah, the son of the widow of Zarephath - were where the person was resurrected in the same recognisable body. However such persons did not then live forever and attain immortality, they remained mortal and the boy grew up and eventually died. He is now awaiting a future resurrection onto a paradise earth - ACTS 24:15.

The resurrection performed by Yahweh, God Almighty, after Yeshua, the Messiah had been in the grave for 3 days was one that assured the Messiah's immortality. When Yeshua was resurrected, his disciples met with him for 40 days prior to his ascension to heaven. The body God resurrected Yeshua in, was obviously one in which he was recognisable to his disciples - MATTHEW 28 - ACTS 1.

What kind of body did Yeshua have when in ascended from earth into heaven? Yeshua was caught up in the clouds and ascended to heaven. On route to heaven it is clear that Yeshua's physical human body would have disintegrated giving way to the putting on of a spirit body with the ability to enter into heaven's atmosphere and take up residence in heaven alongside the other angels - 1 CORINTHIANS 15:50-55.

JOHN 5:28-29 speaks about a resurrection to life - everlasting life for the faithful on earth whose names are to be found written in the book of life (DANIEL 12:3), yet in the future. It also speaks about a resurrection of judgement for those who would have either been saved through Armageddon and lived during Christ's future 1000 year reign and proved unfaithful or those who are destroyed at the end of the 1000 years who side with the Devil - REVELATION 20-10. The resurrection of such ones will have proven to be a resurrection of judgement because at the end of the 1000 year reign their names will not have been found in the book of life and they, among others will be thrown into the lake of fire, and be destroyed forever. That is the meaning of JOHN 5:28-29.
